Mustard

catch up/ketchup/mustard/whatever =)

  • Mom and Dad are here. It's been good. I get to have Lucky Charms for breakfast and grape jelly on toast for morning tea. =)
  • Catie was dressed like Laura Ingalls when we picked Grammy and Papa up from the airport. =)
  • Spent a lot of Saturday outside. We got mulch down on the front gardens and the veggie gardens.
  • Got a cabbage out of the garden on Saturday. It was yummy.
  • BBQ'ed for the first time in a long time on Saturday night. That was yummy too. I may or may not have had 2 steaks!! with the best avocado I've had in ages. and bacon and cheese too.
  • Yesterday we went to the Sauvageot's for Emily's 1st birthday party. Lots of people. More BBQ. yummy
  • so far today I haven't done much. I'm not feeling too well and am hoping this means the birth is soon. I'd love to have an early baby. And I am SO OVER being pregnant.
  • But I do have to go to the grocery store and need a couple things on sale at Big W and Target. I also have a midwife appt at 11:30. so I should really get moving. =)
  • Emma went to Brisbane with Grandpa today. I find it hard to put my little girls into someone else's car and wave goodbye to them. But I know she'll enjoy the time with Grandpa.
  • Not a very exciting life at the moment but that's normal. I'm off to shop. Maybe the walking will help bring on baby.
  • And maybe someday Josh will finally decide on a name for this baby. =)

What's New?

Can you spot what's new in our kitchen?? Yes, that huge Berkey water filtration system. A little bigger than we thought. Actually we ordered the smaller one but they were out of stock so upgraded it for free!! Our water here lately has tasted A LOT like chlorine. NASTY!! so we definitely wanted a water filter of some sort. What sold us on the Berkey is that we can buy an additional filter that filters out fluoride and Hervey Bay is soon to introduce fluoride into the town water. Anyway, here's to clean drinking water!! =)

p.s. for those interested we bought it from here.

This week

Monday--had a dr. appt. Took the girls with me for the first time. Thankfully it was as quick as normal. Then we went grocery shopping. Had to get a few things from Nana's Pantry (brown sugar, raw sugar, corn flour) and was pleasantly surprised to see that they've added Hershey's chocolate syrup to their inventory. YAY!! Dinner tonight is chicken over rice.

Tuesday--Emily's 1st birthday. Can you believe it? Weird to think that Mom and Dad were here just a year ago when she was born. The girls are really looking forward to her "party". My goals for the day are some schoolwork (not too much is going to get done on the homeschool front this week but that's okay), the kitchen cupboards and mop the floor. The kitchen cupboards is one of the things I've been meaning to do for a long time so am using Mom and Dad's arrival as a goal. The floor desperately needs to be mopped so hopefully Josh will help as I find mopping to be extremely uncomfortable.

Wednesday--Ladies' Fellowship is at our house in the morning. We're packing school bags for Tehillah Ministries. My only other goal for Wednesday is the school room. The girls can destroy that room in two minutes flat!! Dinner is going to be enchiladas.

Thursday--Move the futon into the craft room and make sure that room is ready for occupation by Mom and Dad. Clean out the refrigerator. Clean the bathrooms. Youth Group is on from 4:00 - 5:30. Dinner will be nice and easy--tuna noodle casserole.

Friday--Mom and Dad arrive at 8:50 am!!! No real plans that day except to enjoy catching up with them. Dinner will be spaghetti and garlic bread--another nice easy meal.

Saturday--No plans for Saturday either. Dinner is going to be steaks on the grill. Yummy!!

Of course mixed in with these goals are the normal goals of laundry, tidy house, school work and I have a church bulletin to put out this week. And obviously if this baby decides to make his entrance early (haha) all plans are null and void!! =)

Talking American

This is what Catie thinks Americans sound like. Well, the part with the Grapes. She calls it "talking American."

Baby update

okay, that's a pic from the other ultrasound because when you get it done at the hospital you don't get frills like pics of the baby. I didn't even get to see the baby today. The tech kept the monitor pointed towards him and didn't show me anything. Oh well. It's definitely a boy he said. And like I suspected he's more long than chubby. The tech didn't give an estimate of his weight but said he wasn't big and that he had long legs. Apparently though there is an excess of fluid. The tech said there will be "reports of small localized flooding when your water breaks." just what I needed to know. Now I can worry about my water breaking in public.

Had the doctor's appointment a couple hours after the ultrasound. They still hadn't received the report of the u/s. so it was basically a wasted appt. My blood pressure is normal and baby is fine. Although the doctor didn't really instill confidence as she was listening for the heartbeat and wasn't sure if it was mine or the baby's. She also reminded me that if my water breaks or if there is any bleeding to come to the hospital straight away. I felt like saying,"Well, thanks for that. I'm not sure I would've known what to do in that situation!!" She also said how good it was that I waited 4 years between children because having them close together would be very hard. Ummm....maybe she should've checked my chart a little closer. =)

Josh was great and watched the girls through both appointments. I just took their school work and some extra stuff and left them at school with him. I went to the school between appointments and did some work with the girls and we all went and got lunch. Catie says that Grammy and Papa need to get here soon so they can watch the girls instead of Daddy. =) Speaking of that, Mom and Dad get here one week from Friday. The girls ask every day how many days are left until Grammy and Papa get here. Someone asked them today how long it will be and Catie shouted "9 days!!!" They are very excited.

p.s. just as I was about to hit publish the doctor called with the results from the u/s. I think she said the baby was 3.4kg (7.5 lbs). (does anyone else find the Indian accent to be one of the hardest to understand?) Ummm....don't they gain like a pound a week now? Doesn't that mean he could easily be 10lbs if I go overdue? Whatever. I'll see the doctor again on Monday. Hopefully a different doctor. One that I feel slightly confident in.

2 things about Beka

First, I shouldn't have let her skip naptime today.

and second, There was a reason she was acting so naughty that she needed a time out.

I'll have to remember this next time. =)

Cakes part 2

When Josh took the pictures of the cakes by themselves the figurines were turned the wrong way. They were supposed to be facing each other, dancing. So I turned them. =) Don't know who set up the cakes. But they must have though I didn't know what I was doing by not covering up that triangle at the back. So they placed the figurines right over the cut-out. Oh well, all Peter and Nicole did was put the knife in for photos. It worked out fine.
