Almost wordless Wednesday

Because after those election results what can be said?

So instead I show you my kitchen. Painted with full strength Dulux Oyster Linen (those sample pots are coming in handy. Keep the vintage-y labels or no?

p.s. they are curling a bit because I only have them up there temporarily as I decide. And it is breezy today.

Garden update

corn, sunflowers and cucumbers

lettuce and cauliflower

carrots--some are almost ready to pull

garden still doing that weird growing well on the outside thing. =)

sunflower (bottom right) yellow flowers are rockmelon/cantaloupe (I think)

as you can see our pumpkin leaves get droopy in the hot weather/sun. But they are huge and have lots of blossoms on the plant. You can also see the sunflowers-they are about 2.5 feet tall at the moment. Bugs have descended upon them. There is also a bunch of tomato plants, some rockmelon plants, another pumpkin plant and the feathery plants are flowers of some sort. =)

3rd time today

I know...seriously....3 posts in one day. No wonder I took a month off from blogging. =) But I really had to share this. This is my grocery list for this week. well, I got my grocery store flyer late this week and had already filled out my menu plan and grocery list for the week. Mainly based on what we already have in the freezer and pantry. See all those asterisks on my list? Those are all the items on sale in the grocery store flyer. How's that for helping the budget? Thank you, God. It's still not cheap this week but cheaper than it was. And look how political I am. McCain pizza!! =)

And this is a photo Josh took of Beka holding her little friend Emily Grace. How proud does she look?

a little funny...

well, it's funny to me anyway. Growing up in Texas I learned to call any carbonated beverage "coke". At a restaurant a conversation would go like this:

Patron: I'd like a coke please
Waiter: what kind of coke?
Patron: ummm....Dr. Pepper

Anyway, last night I asked Josh for some Coke. So while he was paying for petrol at the petrol station he bought some Coke. As he carried it out the girls got excited and said, "Daddy bought Pepsi". I told them that it was Coke but no, they know, it's Pepsi. Apparently to my carbonated beverage deprived children all carbonated beverages are Pepsi. Just the opposite of what I called it growing up. =)

p.s. this is my 203rd post. hmmm....that's a lot of rambling.
p.p.s. yes, my children are coke/pepsi/carbonation deprived. They've only ever drank coke like twice.
p.p.p.s. there's another word from my high school days in TX. "like" now that's like a whole different post. like, really!

bedroom and boo boo

hmmm...Blogger put my pics in reverse order. Oh well. As you can see I've broken my cook top. =( I went to get the salt out of the cupboard above the stove and it dropped out and broke the cooktop.

And my bedroom. with messy unmade bed. =) We went with oyster linen 1/2 strength. And I love it. I also painted the bedside table and the one just like it out in the front room. I used a matte black spray paint and it was so easy and I love the way it looks. I tried red in the one from the front room but the only red I could get was a glossy red. It looked fantastic on the drawers and top but horrible on the sides. So I went with black.

I've got more pics of projects and stuff to come. But I'm off to take my cinnamon rolls out of the oven, bread out of the bread maker and head to the Sauvageot's for breakfast and then maybe out to the park. (and probably a little stove top shopping too. ) =) Have a great weekend!!
